BSCO ANTI-CARBONATION

BSCO ANTI-CARBONATION

Information

A high-performance, water-based acrylic coating designed to protect reinforced concrete and cementitious surfaces

Description

"BSCO Anti-Carbonation is a high-performance, water-based acrylic elastomeric coating designed to protect reinforced concrete and cementitious surfaces from carbon dioxide ingress, chloride ion attack, UV degradation, and moisture penetration.

It forms a breathable, durable, and flexible protective film providing excellent adhesion and long-term performance for structural and architectural concrete elements. Available in white and other custom shades.

"

Fields of Application

✓ Structural & architectural protection for bridges, tunnels, and retaining walls

✓ Suitable for parking garages and exposed concrete

✓ Ideal for façades, balconies, and industrial & commercial buildings

✓ Applicable on concrete, stucco, render, cement plaster, and blockwork

✓ Can be applied on primed wood or metal with proper surface preparation

Advantages

✓ High CO₂ resistance (high-performance)

✓ Flexible, crack-bridging film

✓ Breathable with low water absorption. with Strong adhesion to concrete

✓ UV-resistant, maintains color

✓ Durable, washable surface & Water-based, low VOC

Application

  1. BSCO ANTI-CARBONATION

    - Substrate must be clean, dry, and structurally sound

    - Free from dust, oil, laitance, loose particles, and previous flaking coatings

    - Surface may be cleaned using grinding, brushing, or pressure washing

    - Moist surfaces must be allowed to dry completely

    - Prime porous substrates with BSCO Primer before application

    - Use BSCO Putty 100/200 to fill minor cracks or uneven surfaces

    - Minimum substrate tensile strength: 1.0 MPa

    - Surface moisture content: <5%

  2. Mixing

✓ Product is ready to use — stir thoroughly before application

✓ Dilute with clean water only if required:

    – First coat: 10–15%

    – Second coat: 5–10%

✓ Avoid over-dilution — weakens CO₂ barrier and reduces DFT

  3. Application

✓ Apply with roller, brush, or airless spray

✓ Two coats are recommended — allow minimum 4 hours drying between coats

✓ Target DFT: 150–200 µm over 2 coats

✓ Ensure uniform film and consistent coverage (8–10 m²/kg per coat)

✓ Avoid application during rain, fog, or relative humidity >80%

✓ Do not apply at surface temperatures below +5°C or above +40°C

✓ Protect freshly applied coating from rain for minimum 4 hours

  4. Cleaning

Clean tools and equipment immediately using clean water. Dried or cured material must be removed mechanically.
