BSCO Primer

Information

A water-based acrylic penetrating primer formulated to penetrate, seal, and stabilize cementitious substrates.

Description

BSCO Primer is a water-based acrylic penetrating primer formulated to penetrate, seal, and stabilize cementitious substrates. It improves adhesion and uniformity for subsequent coatings. The primer reduces substrate absorption and prevents premature water loss, especially on porous or hot surfaces.

Fields of Application

✓ Suitable for cement render, concrete, cement boards, gypsum boards

✓ Ideal for porous, dusty, or highly absorbent interior/exterior walls

✓ Substrate conditioner before putty, plaster, Graffiato/Graphic, TopCoat,

or decorative paints

Advantages

✓ Penetrates 1–2 mm deep stabilization of porous surfaces

✓ Low VOC safe for interiors, GSAS compatible

✓ Fast drying reduces topcoat consumption

✓ Compatible with full BSCO system and fresh cementitious substrates

✓ Improves pull-off adhesion

Application

  1. Surface Prep

    - Substrate must be dry, clean, and free from dust, oil, or contaminants

    - Remove laitance, efflorescence, and loose particles

    - Allow fresh concrete/render to cure at least 7 days before priming

    - Surface moisture content must be <10% for interior; <15% for exterior

    - No special bonding coat required primer applied directly to prepared surface

  2. Mixing

✓ Product is ready to use — stir before application

    ✓ Dilution by substrate porosity:

    – Dense surfaces (concrete): undiluted

    – Standard cement/plaster: 10–15% with clean water

    – Highly porous/absorbent surfaces: up to 20% max

✓ Do not dilute beyond 20% — reduces penetration effectiveness

  3. Application

    - Apply by roller, brush, or airless spray

    - Ensure full and even coverage avoid pooling or excess build-up

    - Allow to dry completely (min. 2 hours at 25°C) before applying next material

    - On highly absorbent surfaces, a second coat may be required

    - Coverage: 10–12 m²/L depending on surface porosity

  4. Cleaning

Clean tools and equipment using clean water immediately after use. Dried material can only be removed mechanically.
